1. Robust academic curriculum
Dukesbridge defies the myth that academic achievement is diluted when fostering a holistic or fun approach to education. Our rigorous academic framework is the backbone of our pedagogy and is adapted from renowned international standards.
A key feature of Dukesbridge is its diversity – we have children from different countries and with different nationalities, and a lot of thought and effort has gone into carefully compiling our curriculum such that it incorporates an International style to allow our students to progress with their studies in any country. In addition to English which is the main language used at school, French is a core subject while Spanish or Mandarin are non-core foreign language subjects introduced at Primary school level.
Preschool syllabus
Primary school syllabus
As for the Primary school, we have analysed and compiled the learning objectives from the British, Australian and Mauritian national curricula and have selected the most advanced components within each core and non-core subject to create a robust, challenging but still fun learning experience for our students. The Dukesbridge programme is academically challenging and is aimed at inspiring creativity and thinking outside the box.
Holistic and integrated approach
2. Focus on expressive arts
Expressive Arts lie at the heart of the school’s programme, not only because of the joy it brings to learning but it plays an invaluable role in developing creative minds and equips a child with the ability to confidently implement academic knowledge in the real world.
Soft Skills
For far too long, education has centered around technical assimilation. However, we strongly believe that the ability to think creatively and abstractly to find practical solutions from multiple angles as well as the skill to articulate clearly and communicate effectively are just as important as academic knowledge of any particular field. Nothing beats expressive arts at cultivating “soft skills” which help develop the social maturity of an individual. Adapted from the Waldorf curriculum, all aspects of Art are purposefully woven into the entire learning programme at Dukesbridge.
Arts & Crafts

Arts and craft activities ranging from drawing, crayonning, painting right through to exquisitely detailed papier mache modelling are all integrated into the school life, including Mathematics and the sciences. In many ways, education through the arts helps a child develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills as creativity becomes a central focus.
Music & Dance

Every day is Music Day as we start with a morning assembly gathering students from all age groups on campus and they all participate in high-energy dancing, jumping up and down and singing along to pumping music. This breaks down barriers between kids and sets off the day on a highly positive note. Musicality is promoted from a young age whereby children learn phonics, foreign languages and even Maths concepts through music and singing.
Drama & Elocution

Drama and dance play a significant role particularly in the final term of each academic year which culminates in an elaborate broadway-style musical stage performance in front of a crowd of parents and other guests. Students also get opportunities to speak in front of crowds and the camera. Unequivocally, such experiences catapult a child’s imagination, creativity and confidence year after year, event after event.
Specialised Arts

Other specialised expressive arts lessons such as gymnastics and ballet dance are run as extracurricular classes by professional coaches which enable students to be graded according to international standards. The level of professionalism in Dukesbridge’s annual events such as the musical stage production reflects not only the value given to arts but also the spirit of excellence, resilience and challenging oneself which transcends traditional components of learning and produces confident individuals.
3. Embracing the outdoors
Our classrooms extend into the garden and beyond. In our fast-paced anxious world, being outdoors in nature rejuvenates the mind, promotes health and fitness, and injects happiness in children which is the backbone of the Dukesbridge curriculum.

Outdoor opportunities abound all day
A school is not confined to a building, it is the entire learning environment which defines it. Aligned with the Australian approach to education, Dukesbridge fully embraces the outdoors from the daily morning assembly right through to after-school clubs.

Panoply of outdoor spaces
The school environment has been purposefully designed to provide various outdoor spaces on campus: green lawn to happily run around, designated playgrounds to freely engage in unstructured play, open balconies for dance, karate and drama sessions and covered terraces to enjoy fresh air when it rains.

Physical Education is a core subject
We take Physical Education seriously. In the early years, children engage in exercises designed to develop their gross motor skills. As they grow, they focus on learning about one particular sport for a set number of weeks and break it down to the specific skills required right through to the general rules of play.

Epic Sports Days
Once a year, the Dukesbridge campuses come together to compete in the Dukesbridge Games. At the preschool level, the events are a mix of interesting individual and team events. At the primary level, our students participate in the more traditional track and field events such as 100m sprints, high jump and shot put.

Unconventional class settings
While most PE classes are understandably conducted outdoors, we also love running some lessons of our not-so-typical-outdoor subjects outside the classroom. Very often, teachers would take the easel out on the terrace or the lawn to conduct a Mathematics lesson with children sitting on picnic blankets.

Seek inspiration from nature
Students go outside to explore, identify, collect, measure, predict outcomes and assess their findings. Story telling often happens in the shade of a tree. Embedded into our programme, creative arts sessions including drawing and painting are often held outdoors so that students are inspired by and learn from nature.

The Great Outdoors
Most of our extracurricular activities are conducted in outdoor settings such as football, swimming, karate, tennis, horse riding and dance. In upper Primary, the life skills units include survival guides, sowing and harvesting, nature walks, mountain climbing, camping, fishing and kayaking.
